The Center for Green Schools at the U.S Green Building Council has joined forces with NSSEA as a sponsoring partner for the 2013 EdSpaces in San Antonio, December 4-6, and beyond. The strategic partnership sets the foundation for making EdSpaces the preeminent event for the many relevant participants in the green schools movement whose jobs are to design, furnish, operate or maintain educational institutions.
"The goal of EdSpaces is to include all of the key voices involved in designing and equipping the healthiest and most sustainable learning environments for students of all ages," says NSSEA President/CEO Jim McGarry. "The Center is the leading expert driving this transformation by bringing the key decision-making groups together and they are making a difference. We look forward to hosting the Green Schools Community at EdSpaces through this important partnership."
EdSpaces includes a CEU-accredited education conference focused on state-of-the-art, sustainable design and the changing face of learning environments. The Center will sponsor an educational programming track for the green schools community that will be approved for GBCI continuing education units. Look for details on these sessions in the coming months.
As a sponsoring partner of EdSpaces, the Center will participate in the planning committee for the event to ensure that green sessions, schools, and products are well represented at the event. In addition, the Coalition for Green Schools Executive Committee will be meeting in San Antonio to take advantage of the synergies between the two groups.
NSSEA is an active supporter of the Center's Coalition for Green Schools. The Coalition for Green Schools is an alliance of the nation's leading educational and environmental associations, including the American Architectural Foundation, Council of Educational Facility Planners, National Education Association, National PTA, National School Boards Association and many others. The Coalition is in pursuit of a common mission: put every child in a green school within this generation.

"The Center has worked closely with NSSEA through their active participation in the Coalition for Green Schools Executive Committee, and we're excited to deepen our relationship through this collaboration around EdSpaces. NSSEA members know that the spaces where our children learn matter, and I'm looking forward to collaborating on a formal focus on healthy, high-performing schools through these conferences."
